Its special character comes from 18 aromatic berries and 44 fine herbs from the local area. Cold macerated and stored in oak barrels for three months, this Black Forest liqueur matures to a very special format – of genuine caliber. This herbal liqueur combines the beginnings of the distillery on our Black Forest farm in 1844 and the exciting stories of emperors and kings with the here and now. BOAR gin is the basis for the Caliber1844 liqueur.

Fine liqueurs since the early days

Ever since our family distillery was founded in 1844, Andreas Kessler and his wife “Kräuterfrenz” Franziska were one of the first distilleries to produce the finest herbal liqueurs based on Black Forest kirsch. Cold macerated, the Black Forest kirsch extracted the flavours from local berries and herbs and made the liqueurs famous far beyond the valley. So well known, in fact, that they were soon being sold in high-end wine and spirits shops in Karlsruhe and Freiburg. Even then, all distillates on our farm were mineralised with the mineral-rich mountain spring water from our own spring and reduced to drinking strength.
